Pickerington North four-star tight end Jake Butt has committed to Michigan, just a day after his latest visit to Ann Arbor.

The 6-foot-6, 225-pound Butt chose the Wolverines over offers
from the likes of Boston College, Duke, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland,
Northwestern, Stanford, Tennessee, UCLA, Virginia and Wisconsin.

“I asked my Dad last night what are we waiting for,” Butt said.
“What other offers? Academically they’re head and shoulders above, not
too mention they will compete for BCS National Championships. They’re
the perfect school.”

Butt is the seventh commit for Michigan this weekend, and the
10th overall. On Saturday, Brake Hoke and his staff landed pledges from
six other four-star recruits in offensive linemen Kyle Bosch, Chris Fox and David Dawson, outside linebacker Taco Charlton, fullback Wyatt Shallman and cornerback Jourdan Lewis.

“Just spending time at the university yesterday led a lot towards
it,” Butt said. “Getting to spend time with the coaches, especially
one-on-one time with Coach (Al) Borges, Coach (Brady) Hoke and Coach
(Dan) Ferrigno, they all really influenced me and it was a great time.”

As a junior, Butt caught 27 passes for 424 yards and seven
touchdowns. Playing defensive end on the other side of the ball, Butt
led the team with nine sacks and also had 45 tackles, with 16.5 stops
coming for loss and two forced fumbles.

“It’s really important to me they’re going to a pro-style
offense, and they said I could fit either of their tight end positions.
They have a Y-back and a U-back, and they have Shane Morris leading the
team and that’s really important too.”
