This week’s JJHuddle Podcast will introduce you to three of the finest basketball coaches in Ohio. We’ll also talk about the state’s finest game – the Columbus City League Championship. Listen up…it’s time to tip-off.
This week’s JJHuddle Podcast will introduce you to three of the finest basketball coaches in the state of Ohio.
We lead off will Scott Elchert, the head coach of the undefeated
(19-0) boys hoops squad from Jackson Center High School in rural West
Central Ohio. They are members of the Shelby County League and they will
play for all of the marbles that circuit has to offer tonight against
their rivals from Anna High School.
Anna has won 10 games in a row and they host this game, so it should
be quite a challenge for the team that is ranked in the ‘others’
category by the JJHuddle Power Poll, but is ranked number two in the
state by the Associated Press.
Any cognitive dissonance generated by that lack of agreement by the
experts should be alleviated early on Friday night. Either way both
teams should do very well in the post season.
We also have head coach Will McKinney of Columbus Africentric High School on hand.
His team plays in the Columbus City League and they play up several
divisions in some cases against monster programs such as Columbus
Northland, Brookhaven and Walnut Ridge.
He’s in the house to tell us the lay of the land in Columbus, his
team’s chances in the post season, how a middle school coach in Dayton
becomes the head coach of a City league power in Columbus, and who
exactly is a bigger challenge–a three-year-old and a four-year-old
temporarily imposing their will or a dozen high-schoolers pretty much
doing the same thing.
It’s a great show, but you know in your heart we will bring you
more… how about this week’s JJHuddle HD game of the week against the
previously mentioned teams from Northland and Walnut Ridge?
They are the #1 and #2 Division I teams in the state according to
Kurt Stubbs, our guru of all things hoopular here at JJHuddle.
We’ll be there, along with Stubbs, at East High School on Saturday
afternoon to bring you this game and we can’t wait. JJHuddle correspondent Tim Langevin will also be there and he’s here as well – on the Podcast to talk up this titanic clash.
Finally we’ll have on another repeat victim of The Podcast, Mr. Paul
Barlow, the head coach of Shaker Heights Hathaway Brown, one of the more
accomplished girl’s hoops squads in Ohio. An accomplished
practitioner of both basketball and phone tag, it was an absolute
pleasure to stalk Barlow this week.
And we’ll bring you his unique insights as well as the contributions
of all of the other guests, free of charge to you our valued listener.
We admire your dedication to high school sports, and we aim to make your experience that much more rich.
Peace, from your friends at JJ Huddle and the JJHuddle Podcast!
