Hilliard Darby defensive back Caleb Day had an impressive performance at one of the
Buckeyes’ football camp sessions in June. The performance earned Day a
scholarship offer from Luke Fickell.

A half year later, with a new coaching staff in place, Day thinks things have not changed.

“It’s the same with Ohio State,” Day said. “Luke and Urban
(Meyer) came to my school. And Mark Pantoni contacted me on Facebook.
Ohio State’s offer still stands.”

The 6-foot-1 and 180-pound Day showed good coverage skills during
drills at the Buckeyes’ camp. He played cornerback and slot receiver
during his junior season making close to 50 tackles and averaging three
receptions per game. Day is being recruited for either side of the ball,
but seems most likely to end up as a defensive back.

Meyer has landed commitments from the top two juniors in the state of Ohio, quarterback/athlete Jalin Marshall and defensive back Cam Burrows.

This weekend Day will check out Ohio State with his family.

“I’m going to their junior day on Sunday,” Day said. “I’m going with my parents.”

Day names Ohio State, Michigan, Purdue, Wisconsin, Michigan
State, Oregon and Louisville as schools he is interested in. While Day
maintains he does not have a favorite at this point, there is no doubt
he likes the Buckeyes.

“I’m really interested in Ohio State,” Day said.

When asked if he would like to commit this weekend, Day said, “I’m not sure – I can’t say right now.”
