Huber Heights Wayne junior Lovell Peterson, the No. 1 junior center in the state of
Ohio, recently received an invitation to visit Ohio State this weekend
and plans to take the Buckeyes up on the offer.

“I’m
going up to Ohio State on Sunday,” Peterson said. “About a week ago I
got an invitation in the mail. I’m going up for the Ohio State-Michigan
basketball game.”

The invitation was followed by a visit from Buckeye boss Urban Meyer.

“My coach told me Urban Meyer came to our school on Monday,”
Peterson said. “He was telling my coach about what they are doing. He
told him they are getting the team ready for a tough February.”

The 6-foot-4 and 285-pound Peterson was a varsity starter for all
11 games of his freshman season, splitting time between left guard and
left tackle. He began his sophomore season at left tackle, then moved to
center after two games and did a great job in front of current Ohio
State quarterback Braxton Miller as Wayne made it to the division 1 state championship game.

Because Wayne had so many new linemen this past season, Peterson
was needed at right tackle, at least at the beginning of the season. He
played tackle the first four games before moving back to center for the
last six games.

Peterson had a left rotator cuff injury, a high ankle sprain of the left ankle and pneumonia, but still played all ten games.

Peterson is being recruited as a center.

“Right now I’m mainly interested in Ohio State and Alabama,”
Peterson said. “But I’m starting to get interested in Miami. They were
just here last week. I also like Michigan State, Michigan and
Cincinnati. Those are the main ones.

“My favorite is Ohio State.”

Kurelic’s Comment: The Buckeyes’ focus right now is to
land one more great offensive tackle for their 2012 recruiting class.
But Peterson is a guy OSU fans will hear about for 2013.
