Urban Meyer has had tremendous success on the recruiting front with
the class of 2012 in his short time as the coach of the Buckeyes. But
Meyer is also working ahead on the class of 2013 and one of his top
targets is Middleton quarterback/athlete Jalin Marshall.

Meyer
and everyone else won’t have to wait it out too much longer to find out
where Marshall is headed. Marshall will announce his college choice
from his home on Jan. 31.

“I want to get it over with and get it off my shoulders,” Marshall said.

Marshall was one of the first class of 2013 prospects Jim Tressel
offered a scholarship when he was the Buckeyes’ coach. Marshall had a
spectacular sophomore season with 1,407 yards rushing and 17 touchdowns
and almost 700 yards passing and 12 touchdowns. Marshall also played a
little wide receiver and had 107 receiving yards and two touchdowns as
the Middies finished 10-1.

The 6-foot-0 and 190-pound Marshall led the Middies to a 10-2
record during his junior season with 1,972 yards rushing and 20
touchdowns. He had 781 yards passing and six touchdowns.

After taking over at the helm of the OSU program Meyer made sure
Marshall knew he too would love to see him playing in his Buckeye
offense.

Marshall’s impressive list of scholarship offers includes Ohio
State, Notre Dame, Tennessee, UCLA, Illinois, Cincinnati and Pitt.

Marshall says his decision is down to “Tennessee, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Cincinnati and Alabama.”

However, Meyer seems to have the Bucks’ in a pretty good position with Marshall.

“He’s a great coach,” Marshall said when asked about Meyer in
late December. “He’s a nice guy with a great personality. I talk to him
quite often (on the phone).”

Marshall is rated as a 5-star prospect by 247Sports. He is the
No. 1 class of 2013 prospect in the state of Ohio, the country’s No. 1
athlete prospect and the country’s No. 5 overall prospect.

Kurelic’s Comment: Everyone will find out where Marshall is headed in less than two weeks. I like the Buckeyes’ chances.
