The Buckeyes hosted a good group of recruits at their game against
Penn State last Saturday. Many of the prospects in attendance were juniors
including one of the country’s best, quarterback/athlete Jalin Marshall (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown).

Marshall
was one of the first class of 2013 prospects the Buckeyes offered a
scholarship. He had a spectacular sophomore season with 1,407 yards
rushing and 17 touchdowns and almost 700 yards passing and 12
touchdowns. Marshall also played a little wide receiver and had 107
receiving yards and two touchdowns as the Middies finished 10-1.

The 6-foot-1 and 185-pound Marshall led the Middies to a 10-2
record this season with 1,972 yards rushing and 20 touchdowns with 781
yards passing and six touchdowns.

Marshall has scholarship offers from Ohio State, Notre Dame, Tennessee, UCLA, Illinois, Cincinnati and Pitt.

Marshall attended the Ohio State-Akron game and was back in the Horseshoe yesterday for the Ohio State-Penn State game.

“It was good,” Marshall said. “I’ve been there before, but it was
still a good experience. It was the first time I’ve been there when it
got dark.”

Marshall is being recruited by John Peterson who is from
Middletown. He also has talked with many of the other Ohio State
coaches.

“I just went up to see the game and get more comfortable with
everything,” Marshall said. “I wanted to get more comfortable with the
coaches and being in the stadium. I talked to Braxton (Miller) before
the game.”

Of course Marshall has heard the talk that the current OSU staff
will not be at Ohio State next year and Urban Meyer will be the
Buckeyes’ head coach.

“I know (Meyer) is a good coach,” Marshall said. “But I don’t
know him personally so it’s hard to say much. Everybody asks me about
(Tim) Tebow and (Percy) Harvin playing for Meyer. But I would just have
to see how things worked out if (Meyer) was there and I went up there.”

There is already speculation that Marshall could be Ohio State’s
version of Harvin if Meyer becomes the Buckeyes’ coach and Marshall ends
up at OSU.

Marshall is rated as a 5-star prospect by 247Sports. He is the
No. 1 class of 2013 prospect in the state of Ohio and the country’s No. 5
overall prospect in the 247Sports rankings.

Kurelic’s Comment: Marshall, who wants to play quarterback
in college, definitely likes Ohio State. If Meyer takes over it will be
interesting to see what he tells Marshall in regards to his position at
the next level.
