Solon wide receiver Tres Barksdale had planned to make an MAC visit a couple
weeks ago, but could not make it. He finally made the visit on Saturday
and came away impressed.
Last week Solon wide receiver Tres Barksdale said he
would attend the Ball State at Ohio game and would not rule out the
possibility of committing to the Bobcats on the unofficial visit.
“I made it down there,” Barksdale said on Sunday night. “It was
homecoming so it was pretty cool. It was the first game I’ve been to
Barksdale had visited Ohio before, but seeing a game for the first
time gave him the opportunity to see some things he had not seen before.
“I was surprised how packed their stadium was,” Barksdale said. “I
liked (Ohio’s) offense. And I got to talk to some of the coaches and
players and some of the redshirt freshmen.”
Barksdale says Ohio and Cornell have offered him.
When asked about committing to the Bobcats, Barksdale said, “I
contemplated it. If I do it will be soon.”
What stood out most about Barksdale’s trip to Athens were the people.
“The best part was talking to the coaches and being able to talk to
some of the players,” Barksdale said. “The players were very positive.”
If Barksdale does not soon commit to Ohio, he said he would like to
make some official visits.
“Ohio, Cornell and William and Mary – I might visit those schools,”
The 6-foot-2 and 185 senior has been a varsity starter since the
beginning of his sophomore season. He broke his right foot and missed
the second half of last season, but is back 100% healthy this year and
having a fine senior season.
