There is no doubt the Buckeyes are making Centerville defensive end/linebacker
Ifeadi Odenigbo a priority, evidenced by
the fact that both Luke

and Jim
Heacock
are actively involved in Odenigbo’s recruitment.

“I
talked to coach Heacock about a week and a half ago,” Odenigbo said.
“Both coach Fickell and coach Heacock are recruiting me. If I have time
later in the season I’ll get up to an Ohio State game.”

Odenigbo has dozen’s of scholarship offers, but he has been
focused on five schools for months. However, his list might be on the
verge of expanding by one.

“It’s still the same five, Ohio State, Stanford, Notre Dame, Cal
and Northwestern,” Odenigbo said. “But UCLA is getting into the mix.”

Odenigbo will make an official visit to Notre Dame the weekend of
Oct. 22 when the Irish host USC for a night game. He also has an
official visit scheduled to Stanford the weekend of Nov. 12 when the
Cardinal play Oregon.

“And I’ll make an official visit to Northwestern sometime in
early December,” Odenigbo said. “I’ll probably take all five official
visits.”

Odenigbo is of course well aware of all the turmoil that has
surrounded the Ohio State football program.

“It does bother me,” he said. “But I’ll wait until everything is
over. I’m not in any rush.”

Odenigbo went on to say he is keeping an eye on the NCAA decision
relating to the Ohio State violations, and who will be the Buckeyes’
coach moving forward after this season.

The 6-foot-4 and 215-pound Odenigbo made 40 tackles including
10.5 sacks during his junior season. Through seven games this season he
has 30 tackles and seven sacks

Bill Kurelic’s Comment: Odenigbo stays in contact with current
Buckeye and former Centerville teammate Michael Bennett. In fact Bennett
sent Odenigbo a text on Sunday night. The two are friends which
certainly can’t hurt the Buckeyes’ chances. In the end if the NCAA does
not hit Ohio State hard, and Odenigbo is on board with whomever the Ohio
State coach is next season, then I think the Buckeyes have a good shot
at landing the Centerville star.
