& JJHuddle Division V Power Poll: Week 8
1. Coldwater (6-1, R20)
QB Austin Bruns’ 33-yard TD pass to WR Caleb Siefring with 1:13 left lifted the Cavaliers to a 17-14 win over Delphos St. John’s in a meeting of state No. 1s. Coldwater intercepted two first quarter passes and turned them into 10 points. Siefring stopped DSJ’s final drive with his second INT. This week Coldwater hits the road for another huge test at Marion Local (6-1).
2. Lima Central Catholic (7-0, R18)
Junior RB Jonathon Washington rushed for 158 yards and three TDs on nine carries and senior QB Tyler O’Connor threw for a TD, ran for a TD and kicked five PATs as the Thunderbirds beat Columbus Ready 36-6. This week LCC travels to Bluffton (4-3).
3. Kirtland (7-0, R17)
Christian Hauber (157 yards rushing) and Scott Eilerman each scored two TDs as the Hornets beat Middlefield Cardinal 45-20. This week Kirtland hosts Beachwood (6-1).
4. Liberty Center (7-0, R18)
The Tigers snapped Ridgewood’s 27-game regular season win streak with a 28-14 win. Sean Westhoven led LC by accounting for three TDs and rushing for 201 yards on 30 carries. This week the Tigers are at Bryan (6-1).
5. Marion Pleasant (7-0, R20)
The Spartans beat Cardington-Lincoln 42-21. RB Holden Rosebrough went over the 1,000-yard mark on the season with a 63-yard TD run and finished the game with 135 yards on 16 carries. This week Pleasant is at River Valley (5-2).
6. Ursuline (1-6, R17)
The Irish had a 21-17 third quarter lead but couldn’t hold on to it in a 31-21 loss to St. Peter’s (N.J.). Senior Rb Jesse Curry led Ursuline by running for 98 yards and a TD. He also threw for a TD. The Irish turned the ball over three times. This week Ursuline hosts East Tech (1-6).
7. Wynford (7-0, R19)
The Royals won their 55th straight regular season game with a 40-8 win over Upper Sandusky. RB Luke Miller scored on a 78-yard TD run, Nate Brown returned a kickoff 85 yards for a score and QB Zach Chatlain threw for 157 yards and two TDs. This week Wynford is at Colonel Crawford (4-3).
8. Nelsonville-York (7-0, R19)
The Buckeyes beat Meigs 41-14 thanks in part to RB Dustin Young who carried the ball 19 times for 152 yards and a TD. This week Nelsonville hosts Vinton County (1-6) in its final home game. The final two weeks the Buckeyes are at Alexander (6-1) and Athens (7-0).
9. Hopewell-Loudon (7-0, R18)
The Chieftains got a big lift form QB Tyler Tyree and enter the Power Poll after beating Seneca East 42-21. Tyree ran for 157 yards and three TDs on 24 carries and threw for 99 yards and another TD on 9-of-20 passing. Next up is a visit from Carey (6-1).
10. Anna (4-3, R20)
The Rockets re-enter the Power Poll riding a two-game win streak after falling to Coldwater, Delphos St. John’s and Marion Local in succession. QB Jay Meyer completed six passes for 112 yards and three TDs, while RBs Gage Besecker (126 yards and two TDs on 16 carries) and Cole Fergason (116 yards on 20 carries) powered the running game. This week Anna hosts St. Henry (1-6).
