Week 7 of the Ohio high School football season was a huge one in many aspects.
Consider:

*Kenton’s Mauk breaks Ohio TD record: Kenton senior gunslinger Maty Mauk threw seven TDs in a 64-42 win over Lima Bath, giving him 181 for his career – a new Ohio record. The previous mark of 178 was set by Mauk’s brother Ben. Against Bath, Maty Mauk completed 20-of-28 passes for 411 yards. He also ran for 210 yards and two TDs on 13 carries.

*Clinton-Massie’s Dart makes it 11: Clinton Massie senior K Geramie Dart went 8-8 on PATs in a 70-6 win over Greenfield McClain to become just the 11th kicker in state history to reach 200 career kicking points. Dart currently sits tied for seventh in state history with 174 career PATs and has an outside shot to become just the third player in Ohio history to reach 200 PATs.

*Galion’s Nay keeps plugging away: It took just seven games for Galion junior RB David Nay to break his school’s single-season rushing record. Nay ran for 357 yards and five TDs on just 14 carries in a 61-13 win over Riverdale. Nay, who has had over 200 yards six weeks in a row, has 1,687 yards on 130 carries (12.7 yards per carry). He’s also scored 136 points. The old Galion record of 1,680 yards was set by Rob Monnett in 1985. In the win over Riverdale, Galion (6-1) finished with 635 yards of offense (528 rushing) and secured the program’s second winning season in 14 years.

* Willoughby South’s Hunt has a season’s worth of stats in two weeks: In back-to-back wins over Chardon and Madison, Willoughby South junior Kareem Hunt has rushed for 723 yards and scored 11 touchdowns. Impressive indeed. A week after running for a Lake County record 415 yards and seven TDs in a 49-35 win over Chardon, Hunt (5-11, 185) ran for 308 yards and four TDs on 30 carries in a 42-28 win over Madison.
