Ohio University, Miami of Ohio and Penn State are among the schools
showing interest in Solon senior WR Tres Barksdale. Barksdale talks about
the two MAC schools and some upcoming visits.
Solon wide receiver Tres Barksdale, a varsity starter
since the beginning of his sophomore season, has helped lead his team to
a 5-0 record this season.
The 6-foot-2 and 185 senior has eight receptions for approximately
200 yards and a touchdown at the half-way point of the season. This
comes after a junior season that was interrupted by injury. Barksdale
broke his right foot and missed the second half of last season. He
finished with 20 catches for 400 yards and four touchdowns.
Braksdale is drawing interest from recruiters from a variety of schools.
“I have an (scholarship) offer from Ohio University,” Barksdale
said. “And I’m talking to Cornell, Harvard, Miami of Ohio and Penn
Barksdale attended the Bobcats’ satellite football camp at Mentor this summer and then received the offer.
“I’m going down to Ohio next weekend for their game against Kent
State,” Barksdale said. “I went down there for a visit in early August
and met the coaches. Coach (Frank) Solich wasn’t there, but I called
him and we talked.
“I liked it a lot there.”
Fellow MAC member Miami of Ohio seems to be picking up in their interest of Barksdale.
“I talked to them on Wednesday night,” Barksdale said. “I’m going to go there sometime in the next two or three weeks.”
Yesterday Barksdale attended the Eastern Michigan at Penn State game.
When asked to name his leader, Barksdale said, “I don’t have a favorite. I’m just going to let things play out.”
