Austintown-Fitch running back William Mahone
has reached the point in the recruiting process where he’s ready to
make his decision.

The 5-11, 205-pound Fitch High player is set to choose from
Michigan State, Notre Dame, Penn State and Pitt on Aug. 7.

Mahone was actually on the brink of canceling a campus visit to
Notre Dame on June 27, but opted to go ahead with the trip after talking
to the Irish coaching staff.

“People were right when they told me, ‘it’s just something you’ve
got to see to understand,” Mahone told BlueandGold.com recruiting
writer Will Biggers after the visit. “The visit definitely changed up my
recruitment. Before the visit, they were just another school I had to
think about, now they’re one of my favorites.

“I guess you could even say that I wasn’t looking forward to the
trip, but I’m really glad I went. Now I’m really thinking hard about
going there.”

Other programs that had offered him are Boston College, Illinois,
Iowa, Minnesota, Northwestern, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and West Virginia.
