Alabama had success in the
state of Ohio in the 2011 cycle in landing Trey Depriest
and Ryan Kelly
from the Buckeye State. The Crimson Tide are looking to Ohio once again
and one of their targets is Cincinnati (OH) Taft wide receiver Dwayne Stanford.
The 6-foot-4, 190-pound Stanford hopes to make a visit to the Capstone
as early as this coming weekend and has the Crimson Tide in his top
group.

“This weekend I’m trying to convince my mom to go
down to Alabama,” Stanford said. “I wouldn’t do the camp at Alabama,
I’d just be visiting. I’ll also try to get over to Michigan, Tennessee,
North Carolina, and maybe back up to Ohio State at some point. My top
schools are Ohio State, Cincinnati, Michigan, North Carolina, Tennessee,
Alabama, LSU, and Miami.”

Stanford communicates regularly with Alabama assistants Mike Groh and Sal Sunseri along
with head coach Nick
Saban
.

“I talk to Coach Sal and Coach Groh and occasionally I’ll talk
with Coach Saban,” he said. “They’re telling me that you can’t get any
better in the SEC than Alabama. They say I can come down there and be a
real good player as long as I work hard. Coach Saban talks about his
philosophy of coaching and how he wants the best players in the country
to Alabama so they can win national championships.”

The four-star talent is attracted to Alabama’s tradition, alumni
network, and NFL pedigree.

“It’s a great school that has great tradition,” stated Stanford.
“Alabama is a school with a lot of alumni who take care of each other. Nick Saban is a
great coach to play for and they just had Julio Jones,
so clearly they know how to use receivers. I just feel I could go down
there to Alabama and be NFL-ready.”

Stanford, who is considered to be the top receiver prospect in
Ohio, is eyeing a mid-season decision and will lean heavily on his
highly-touted teammate, Adolphus
Washington
.

“I’ll probably make a decision in mid-October after I take my
officials,” Stanford said. “I’m just looking for a place with a good
atmosphere and a place where I can see myself being comfortable for four
years.

“It’s pretty much me and Adolphus going through this together. We
definitely talk about recruiting. We want to go to the same school and
that’s something we’re trying to make happen.”

Stanford is has a grade of 92 from 247Sports and is ranked as the
12th best prospect in Ohio.
