The Ohio class of 2013 has some outstanding prospects including Middletown QB Jalin Marshall. A good case can be made for Marshall as the top sophomore in the state. But it is not necessarily a hands down decision. Trotwood-Madison DB Cameron Burrows
seems set to challenge for the top
The Ohio class of 2013 has some outstanding prospects including quarterback Jalin Marshall (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown). A good case can be made for Marshall as the top sophomore in the state.
Defensive back Cameron Burrows
(Trotwood, Ohio/Madison) seems set to make his challenge for the top
spot. The 6-foot-2 and 195-pound Burrows had a big sophomore season.
Burrows played a huge role in Madison making it to the state
championship game (where Madison lost to Maple Heights) and finishing
with a 12-3 record. Burrows started all 15 games and finished the season
with 64 tackles and six interceptions.
Burrows has run the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds. He has outstanding size for a cornerback and excellent coverage skills.
Burrows received his first scholarship offer in mid-April when the Cincinnati Bearcats stepped forward.
“They came to my school and told my coach,” Burrows said. “After
practice my coach told me they were offering. I was kind of surprised.”
Many other schools are showing interest including Ohio State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oregon, Missouri and Colorado.
Burrows attended a Cincinnati spring practice and an Ohio State
Sugar Bowl practice. He also attended two of the Buckeyes’ home games
last season and is a definite candidate to be the first Trotwood-Madison
player Jim Tressel has offered since he has been at Ohio State.
“I talk to Taver Johnson,” Burrows said. “I call him. I’ve been an Ohio State fan since I was young. They win a lot of games.”
When asked to name the schools he is interested in, Burrows said,
“I like Oregon, Ohio State, LSU, Texas, Alabama, Michigan State, USC,
Wisconsin and Michigan.”
Bill Kurelic’s Comment: Burrows is an outstanding prospect and I
predict he eventually lands an offer from the Buckeyes. The good news
is he has a strong interest in Ohio State.
