Dublin Jerome’s Wilson racking up offers

Dublin Jerome WR Cameron Wilson

Dublin Jerome wide receiver Cam Wilson doesn’t currently hold an offer from Ohio State, but he has plenty of early options. “I have 11 offers,” Wilson said. “I have Syracuse, South Florida,
West Virginia, Kentucky, Iowa, Purdue, Illinois, Boston College,
Toledo, Bowling Green and Vanderbilt.” See where Wilson went this past weekend…

The Buckeyes’ practice
session turned scrimmage in Ohio Stadium on Saturday was well attended
by recruits. One of those in attendance was offensive lineman Jordan Diamond (Chicago, Ill./Simeon), one of the top prospects on the Buckeyes’ recruiting board.

Diamond came away very impressed with his OSU visit and Bucknuts.com had the story on Saturday night.

However, Diamond was not the only prospect in attendance on Saturday with major college scholarship offers in his back pocket.

Wide receiver Cam Wilson (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome), though not
holding an offer from the Buckeyes, certainly has his share of tenders.

“I have 11 offers,” Wilson said. “I have Syracuse, South Florida,
West Virginia, Kentucky, Iowa, Purdue, Illinois, Boston College,
Toledo, Bowling Green and Vanderbilt.”

Living in suburban Columbus, Saturday was of course not the first
time Wilson has been to Ohio State. This time Wilson made the short
trip to Ohio Stadium with both of his parents.

“We watched the practice and scrimmage in the stadium,” Wilson
said. “I got to see a lot of good players. I got to see Braxton (Miller)
play for the first time. I was impressed with him.”

Wilson did not speak with Jim Tressel on Saturday, but he still at least got a feel for what the OSU staff is thinking in regards to a possible scholarship offer.

“I talked to coach (Greg) Gillum and coach (Luke) Fickell,”
Wilson said. “They said they want to get to know most of the Ohio kids
they haven’t offered yet.”

The 6-foot-1 and 195-pound Wilson played both wide receiver and
running back during his sophomore season. He played exclusively wide
receiver during his junior season and caught 77 passes for 1,075 yards
and six touchdowns. Wilson also had two rushing touchdowns.

In addition to the Buckeyes’ practice/scrimmage on Saturday,
Wilson has also visited Boston College and Illinois this spring. He
plans to attend Iowa’s spring game this Saturday.

When asked to name his leader, Wilson said, “Right now I like
Iowa, Illinois and Boston College best probably. If things fall into
place I might pick a college before the football season starts.”

Bill Kurelic’s Comment: If the Buckeyes were to offer Wilson I think they would be among his top choices. However, they have a great shot at landing Frank Epitropoulos and a very reasonable shot at landing Jaquay Williams,
both of whom they have already offered. They have also offered several
other wide receivers so my gut feeling is they don’t offer Wilson at
least until they find out what some of the ones they have offered are
going to do.
