Sycamore tight end A.J. Williams received a
Michigan State offer Wednesday, Spartan Tailgate has confirmed.

The 6-foot-6, 255-pound 2012 prospect was told he should call
MSU’s staff during school Wednesday, and received the good news from
coach Mark
Dantonio and defensive backs coach Harlon Barnett.

“I was excited, cause I’m actually considering a place like
Michigan State,” Williams told Spartan Tailgate. “(Dantonio) was just
talking to me about how Michigan State feels like family and how they
have a great education there, and just asked me a few questions.”

Williams holds additional offers from Illinois, Indiana,
Michigan, North Carolina State, Boston College, Toledo, Bowling Green
and Ohio. Some are recruiting Williams as an offensive tackle, while
Williams said the Spartans are interested in him at either position.

Williams did not attend MSU’s junior day Sunday, but said he is
planning to visit East Lansing sometime in the next month.

“The fact that it’s a winning program and the fact that they go
to bowls,” Williams said when asked what he liked about the Spartans.
“They’ve been going to bowls for the last couple years and I just really
want to be a part of a winning program.”

Williams also liked the emphasis on education at MSU and may
major in finance. In addition, Williams said the roughly four-hour
distance would be perfect, considering his family could attend all his
games. He’s receiving additional interest from schools like Syracuse and
Iowa and said he expects more offers in the near future.
