Solon OL Austin Stock will take JJHuddle readers through the recruiting process this spring, summer and fall.

Last year JJHuddle tagged along with Ashland High School QB Marcus Fuller as he went through the recruiting process. This year JJHuddle will follow another Ohio
senior who is trying to land a scholarship. Solon OL Austin Stock is one of Ohio’ s top line prospects. Today we hit the recruiting road
with him…

Last year JJHuddle was lucky enough to have Ashland High School quarterback Marcus Fuller invite us a long for his ride through the recruiting process. Fuller’s determination and drive eventually landed him a roster spot at Brown – yes, that Brown. This year JJHuddle will again follow another Ohio senior as he tries to land a college scholarship as well. Solon offensive lineman Austin Stock is one of Ohio’ s top line prospects and is a two-year starter for the Comets. Today we hit the recruiting road with him…

My name is Austin Stock and I will be a senior at Solon (Ohio) High School (Class of 2012). Our head Coach is James McQuaide. We have a great bunch of coaches in Solon like our offensive coach from last year Ryan Stanchek, who played for the University of West Virginia and was a four year starter and a two year All-American. Also our line coaches are Bruce Heinrich, Rich Shirilla, and our head coach/o-line coach James McQuaide. All of their input and help has made not just me but our entire offensive and defensive line better. I am a Center on the OL. My number is 76. I weigh 270 lbs, stand 6-foot-3, squat 600, power clean 275 and bench 340. My team has gone 24-2 over the past two years. We have been NOC undefeated conference champions. We’ve played in the Regional Finals two years in a row.
I started at right tackle my sophomore year, and moved back to center my junior year, which is where I’ve played pretty much since third grade.

I have been receiving recruiting letters since my sophomore year; it has been a very long but amazing process so far. I have not received an offer from any college yet but here is a list of the college’s who have shown interest in me:

Ohio State University
Michigan
Michigan State
Penn State
Stanford
Notre Dame
Purdue
Ohio University
Harvard
Dartmouth
North Carolina State
Boston College
Syracuse
Princeton
University of Kentucky

I have also visited and been to some games so far this past year. I have seen six colleges so far. I went to Ohio State, Purdue and Akron for summer camps last year. I also went to Ohio State this year for a bowl game practice and a game. I went to Penn State for a game, Michigan’s New Big House opening game, and Notre Dame for multiple games. All the trips have been amazing. They all count on their great tradition, academics and athletics, which are what I am looking for in all of the colleges who are interested in me. I am also looking for a great engineering program from a college as well as a great student friendly environment.

I will be going to Ohio University on Feb. 27 for a junior day. I will also be heading to Penn State, Boston College, Ohio State and Notre Dame this summer for camps. This will be a very exciting recruiting process and I hope whoever reads this blog that it helps you become better educated in this process and I hope you get as much fun out of it as I will. I will blog again after my visit to OU.
