Defensive end Tom Strobel (Mentor) made no secret he is
seriously considering Michigan State now that he has an offer from the
Spartans. Thing is, he has nine other offers too – and more will be coming. Here’s what Strobel said regarding his recruiting…
Michigan State is hitting the state of Ohio very hard for its 2012 recruiting class and Spartan Tailgate has found yet another talented prospect they have offered a scholarship from the Buckeye State.
Defensive end Tom Strobel (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) made no secret he is seriously considering Michigan State now that he has an offer from the Spartans.
“I was really excited (to receive the offer),” Strobel said. “After the great season they had its exciting. Their academics are good and I’ve heard their campus is beautiful.”
The 6-foot-6 and 240-pound Strobel made 47 tackles including seven sacks during his sophomore season. Strobel had 10 tackles for loss, 30 quarterback pressures and two fumble recoveries.
Strobel helped lead his team to a 7-3 regular season record and a birth in the state playoffs this past season. He made close to 40 tackles with three sacks and 32 quarterback pressures as Mentor finished 7-4.
Strobel has 10 scholarship offers. His list is made up of Michigan State, Pitt, Purdue, Cincinnati, Northwestern, Stanford, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Notre Dame.
“I have absolutely no favorites,” he said. “I’m just going to sit back and look at all my options.”
Strobel also may look at Michigan State the weekend of Feb. 27 when the Spartans hold a junior day for the Michigan State-Purdue basketball game.
“I’m going to try to get up there,” he said.
