The Buckeyes have offered a scholarship to one of the fastest rising junior prospects in the state of Ohio, wide receiver Dwayne Stanford (Cincinnati, Ohio/Taft).

The 6-foot-4 and 200-pound Stanford caught 14 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns during his sophomore season. He had a huge junior season catching 35 passes for 706 yards. Stanford averaged 20.2 yards per reception with six touchdowns.

For his efforts Stanford was named CMAC Offensive Player of the Year.

Stanford is a tremendous athlete who also plays on the Taft basketball team as well as one of the country’s top AAU teams, All Ohio Purple. Also on that basketball team is Adolphus Washington who is a star defensive end for the Taft Senators and also holds a scholarship offer from the Buckeyes.

Stanford confirmed his offer from the Buckeyes in a text message late Thursday night.

Stanford attended the Ohio State-Miami game in September and came away impressed.

“I like Ohio State personally,” Stanford said. “I liked it a lot there.”

Stanford said his other verbal offers include Michigan State, Purdue, Georgia, Kentucky, Alabama and Texas Tech.

In addition to being an outstanding football and basketball player, Stanford is a fine student sporting a 3.7 GPA.

Kurelic’s Comment:
I have seen Stanford on the AAU basketball scene for several years. He is a super athlete who would look great in an Ohio State uniform. Stanford’s offer list is going to continue to grow, but I like the Buckeyes’ chances of landing both he and Washington.
