As for how this team was selected, we went with the experts: the
staff of JJHuddle.com, Bucknuts.com, ScoutingOhio.com and the Ohio
Football Recruiting News.

Player of the Year: Braxton Miller, Wayne

One of Ohio’s top quarterback prospects ever, the Ohio State recruit
capped an outstanding high school career by leading the Warriors back
from an 0-2 start to within seconds of the Division I state title. Wayne
lost 35-28 to Lakewood St Edward after holding a fourth quarter lead.
Miller passed for 2,167 yards, ran for 658 more and accounted for 34 TDs
this season. His career totals read 4,795 yards passing and 1,596 yards
rushing. Miller picked Ohio State over offers from USC, Wisconsin,
Florida, Alabama, Notre Dame, Michigan and others.

Coach of the Year: Dave Tarpley, New Lebanon Dixie

The fourth-year head coach didn’t lead his team to the playoffs.
Didn’t lead them to a league title either. In fact, the Greyhounds
finished just two games over .500. The key is the “over .500” part. The
last time Dixie had a winning record was 1983 when it tied Valley View
for the Southwestern Buckeye League title. That’s no misprint. Five
presidencies and 27 years later the Greyhounds, who finished 7-3, have
another winning season to hang their hats on. Dixie has been close
lately, finishing each of the past two seasons 5-5.

Honorable Mention: Nate Moore, Minster; Chip Otten Coldwater;
Andy Olds, Kings; Tom Grippa, LaSalle; Jason Krause, Middletown; Rick
Finotti, Lakewood St. Edward;  Ed Miley, Marlington; Ricky Powers, Akron
Buchtel; Jay Minton, Wayne; Jason Carpenter, Elida; Mark Iammarino,
Chagrin Falls.
