St. Ignatius is in the state final for the fifth time overall and third in a row. The Wildcats are ranked No. 1 in the country by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and are going for their second national championship (won title in 2005). St. Ignatius, which owns three state titles, is 21-0-0.

Centerville, 20-0-2, is in the state final for the seventh time overall and for the first time since 1996. The Elks were state champs in 1984.

Saint Ignatius is 6-3-0 all time against the Elks, but this is the first meeting between the two in the postseason.
