CENTRAL OHIO MCDONALD’S AND JJHUDDLE GAME OF THE WEEK

WEEK 10: HILLIARD DAVIDSON 16, HILLIARD DARBY 0

Player of the Game: Alex Mickley, Hilliard Davidson

The Lowdown: Defending Division I state champion Davidson shut out Darby for the second straight season and finished 10-0 for the first time since 2006 (when they won their first state title). Davidson will host a Region 3 regional quarterfinal game next Saturday against an opponent yet to be determined.

Defensively the Wildcats held Darby to 162 total yards, including 12 passing. Davidson also forced two first quarter turnovers in its territory. They had three turnovers over all. Senior LB Keith Heitzman, a Vanderbilt commit, added a blocked punt for a safety in the third quarter.

Mickley, a junior RB, led the offense by racking up 113 yards and both the Wildcats TDs on 23 carries.

Despite the outcome, both teams have earned playoff berths and will begin regional play next Saturday. There’s a very good chance they could face each other again in seven days.
