State Championship Game
Cincinnati St. Ursula Academy 1, Thomas Worthington 0

UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio: Cincinnati St. Ursula Academy defeated Thomas Worthington 1-0 in the championship game of the OHSAA state field hockey tournament Saturday at Upper Arlington High School.

St. Ursula sophomore Maggie Winstel scored the game’s only goal at the 13:43 mark of the second half. Junior Elley Frank was credited with the assist. The Bulldogs senior goalkeeper Ellen Ryan made 10 saves en route to the shutout victory.

St. Ursula (14-5-1) wins its first OHSAA field hockey state title in its first appearance in the championship game. This was only the Bulldogs’ second appearance in the field hockey state final four, making their first appearance in 2009. Thomas Worthington (17-2-1), making its fifth final four appearance, becomes the state runner-up for its first time.
