Canton South senior QB Jared May set a national high school record
with 87 pass attempts
in a 35-18 loss to Marlington on Friday. According to the National Federation of State High School
Associations 2010 Football Record Book, the previous record for pass
attempts in a game was 83
set by Brian Kauffman of Maplewood Hill-Murray
(Minn.) in 2001.


Canton South senior QB Jared May set a national high school record with 87 pass attempts in a 35-18 loss to Marlington on Friday.

According to the National Federation of State High School Associations 2010 Football Record Book, the previous record for pass attempts in a game was 83 set by Brian Kauffman of Maplewood Hill-Murray (Minn.)  High in 2001.

May completed 46-of-87 attempts for 446 yards and two TDs. His 46 completions also tied the national record set previously by three QBs and most recently in 2005.

Last week, in a 50-33 win over West Branch, May threw for 560 yards and seven TDs on 42-of-73 passing.

Earlier this year May fell one TD shy of tying the national record for TD passes in a game (10) with nine in a 62-14 win over East Palestine.
