JJHUDDLE’S DIVISION I POWER POLL WEEK 8

1. Colerain (7-0)
The Cardinals ran their home win streak to 56 games and survived an upset bid by Hamilton. Colerain rallied from a 14-3 halftime deficit and watched as Big Blue missed a potential game-tying 26-yard field goal with 27 seconds left. Senior QB Tyler Williams set the school’s career rushing record with a 158-yard night that gives him 3,231 yards for his career. This week the Cardinals play at Princeton (3-4). Previous: 1

2. Glenville (7-0)
Since their Week 2 win over Dwyer (Fla.), the Tarblooders have won the last five games 231-25. Their most recent victim was Cleveland Lincoln West who they shutout 46-0. Senior QB Cardale Jones completed 11-of-15 passes for 200 yards and four TDs. This week Glenville hosts John Adams (2-5). Previous: 2

3. Pickerington Central (6-0)
The Tigers gave up their first TD since Week 2 but still dominated Groveport-Madison 45-7. Pick Central’s Speedy Hammond scored three TDs, while Roger Lewis caught two TD passes. This week the Tigers travel to Newark (1-6) where they have a good shot at notching their fourth shutout of the season. Previous: 4

4. Lakewood St. Edward (7-0)
Déjà vu. The Eagles defense continues to shine. St. Edward recorded its second straight shutout with a 62-0 win over Columbus DeSales. Overall St. Ed has allowed just 12 points in its last five wins (which include Mooney, Inkster (Mich.) and Elder). This week the Eagles host Cincinnati St. Xavier (4-3). Previous: 5

5. Hilliard Davidson (7-0)
The numbers continue to get crazy for the Wildcats who have won their last four games 230-12. Alex Mickley and Tyler Talbott each scored three TDs in Davidson’s latest victory, a 57-6 decision over Worthington Kilbourne. Things get decidedly more difficult this week with a trip to Dublin Coffman (6-1) on the docket.

6. Solon (7-0)
The Comets defense limited host Brunswick to 110 total yards and six first downs in a 27-0 shutout win. Solon’s Chris Humphrey also returned an interception for a TD. This week the Comets host Nordonia (2-5). Previous: 6

7. Cincinnati LaSalle (7-0)
The undefeated Lancers continued their best start in school history as senior QB Drew Kummer threw for two TDs and ran for another. LaSalle built a 14-3 lead and then rallied from a 17-14 fourth quarter deficit for the win. LaSalle hosts Moeller (6-1) this week. Previous: 8

8. Austintown-Fitch (7-0)
The Falcons erupted for a 42-6 halftime lead and cruised to a 42-12 win over North Canton Hoover. Junior QB Demitrious Davis accounted for four TDs. This week Fitch hosts Perry (5-2). Previous: 9

9. Middletown (7-0)
The Middies rallied from a 23-21 halftime deficit with 35 third quarter points to beat Mason 69-44 in a game that saw 934 yards of total offense between the two teams. Middletown was led by sophomore QB Jalin Marshall who ran for 240 yards and four TDs and threw for 112 yards and two more TDs. This week the Middies travel to Fairfield (2-5). Previous: 10

10. Springfield (6-1)
The Wildcats make their Power Poll debut after beating Kettering Fairmont 36-7 to run their win streak to six. Included in that span are victories over Upper Arlington, Sycamore, Wayne and Trotwood-Madison. This week the Wildcats travel to winless Beavercreek. In Week 9 they host Centerville. Previous: NR.

DROPPED OUT: No. 3 Centerville (lost 24-21 in Double OT to Northmont)
