JJHUDDLE’S DIVISION II POWER POLL WEEK 7

1. Mentor Lake Catholic (5-1)
The Cougars recorded their second straight shutout with a 55-0 dismantling of Holy Name. MLC led 49-0 at halftime. Senior RB Richie Sanders scored three TDs. This week should be another breather with a trip to Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin (1-5) on the docket. Previous: 1

2. Maple Heights (6-0)
The Mustangs beat Bedford 49-21 behind solid outings from senior RB DeVonte Ransom and senior QB Shaq Washington. Ransom ran for four TDs and 185 yards and 32 carries, while Washington threw for 100 yards and two TDs. This week Maple Heights hosts Shaw (4-2). Previous: 2

3. Winton Woods (5-1)
The Warriors outlasted Harrison 44-33 thanks in part to junior RB Aaron Kemper who ran for 209 yards and three TDs on 22 carries. This week Winton Woods hosts Loveland (1-5). Previous: 3

4. Avon (6-0)
The Eagles handled Vermillion 42-19 and showed their balance, as six different players accounted for TDs. This week Avon hosts Firelands (1-5). Previous: 4

5. Turpin (6-0)
The Spartans beat West Carrollton 35-13 as senior RB Will Stocker went for 124 yards and two TDs on 16 carries. Senior QB Eric Martin also completed 15-of-24 passes for 211 yards and two TDs. This week Turpin hosts Wilmington (5-1). Previous: 5

6. Toledo Central Catholic (6-0)
The Irish have posted back-to-back shutouts against Bowsher (48-0) and Clay (28-0). This week TCC faces archrival Toledo St. Francis (2-4) before a three-game season-ending gauntlet of Whitmer, Akron Buchtel and Toledo St. John’s. Previous: 6

7. Howland (6-0)
Can anyone score on the Tigers? No one has for three weeks. Howland notched its third straight shutout with a 26-0 win over Beaver Local. This week a stiff test at Poland (4-2) awaits. Previous: 7

8. Marion-Franklin (6-0)
The Red Devils ran out to a 34-0 lead at halftime and coasted to a 46-0 win over Africentric. Paul Harris ran for three TDs and Correy Benson threw for two for M-F, which hosts Columbus West (3-3) this week. Previous: 8

9. New Albany (6-0)
The defense came up big for the Eagles in the fourth quarter as they produced two sacks and a pass deflection on Olentangy Orange’s last drive of the game in a 28-21 win. Alex Hake and Jordan Gallegos each ran for two TDs. This week New Albany travels to Franklin Heights (0-6). Previous: 9

10. Copley (6-0)
The Indians recorded their first shutout of the season with a 21-0 win over Lodi Cloverleaf. Up next is trip to Wadsworth (2-4).  Previous: 10
