JJHUDDLE’S DIVISION III POWER POLL WEEK 7

1. Steubenville (6-0)
Finally, Big Red will play an Ohio team this week. Steubenville ran its record to 3-0 against West Virginia teams last week with a 39-0 shutout of Wheeling Park. This week Big Red heads north to face off against Massillon Washington (5-1). Previous: 1

2. Watterson (4-1)
The toughest part of last week’s game at Greenville was getting there. Watterson blasted the host Green Wave (located in Darke County) 72-0 and outgained them 461-37 in total yards. Ouch. This week Watterson hosts Lorain (1-5). In Week 8 archrival DeSales comes calling. Previous: 2

3. Columbus DeSales (4-2)
If only the Stallions could play St. Charles every game. DeSales ran its win streak to 34 straight in the series with its rival with a 20-6 win. The game featured four field goals and two TDs – one each by DeSales QB Nick Gentile and RB Warren Ball. This week DeSales gets a huge test –literally – in D-I power Lakewood St. Edward (6-0). Previous: 3

4. Youngstown Mooney (3-2)
The Cardinals rebounded from back-to-back losses to Lakewood St. Edward and Columbus DeSales by shutting out St. Francis (N.Y.) 42-0. Sophomore RB Justus Ellis scored twice for Mooney. One of his TDs was a 48-yard punt return. This week Mooney hosts Benedictine (1-5) this week. Previous: 4

5. Akron SVSM (5-1)
The Irish won their fifth straight and posted their second straight shutout with a 28-0 win over Akron Garfield. This week SVSM hosts Walsh Jesuit (4-2). Previous: 5

6. Marlington (6-0)
The Dukes erased a 21-14 halftime deficit and beat previously undefeated Minerva 38-21 before a crowd of 5,000. Alden Hill led the way by rushing for 164 yards and four TDs on 24 carries. This week the Dukes have another tough test at Alliance (4-2). Previous: 6

7. Wyoming (5-1)
The Cowboys ran over Maderia 34-7 with senior RB Drew Perry accounting for three TDs (two rushing, one passing). This week Wyoming travels to winless Deer Park. Previous: 7

8. Clyde (6-0)
The Fliers, ahead just 13-12 at halftime, beat Margaretta 33-12. Senior RB Gabe Gilbert led Clyde by running for 133 yards and three TDs on 16 carries. The Fliers host Sandusky St. Mary Central Catholic (1-5) this week. Previous: 9

9. Eaton (6-0)
The Eagles blasted host Monroe 42-7 thanks in part to outstanding efforts from Nate Clark and Joey McCafferty. Clark carried the ball 42 times for 210 yards and four TDs, while McCafferty tallied 16 tackles and scored two TDs himself. This week Eaton entertains Bellbrook (3-3). Previous: 10

10. Cincinnati Roger Bacon (5-1)
The Spartans slipped hard last week and let Fenwick run all over them in a 55-28 loss. Time to rebound, which won’t be easy with a road game at McNicholas (4-2). Previous: 8
