Garaway’s Honigford heading to Ashland

Garaway’s Paul Honigford averaged 16 points per game as a junior.

Paul Honigford (6’8/2011) of Sugarcreek Garaway has verbally committed to Division II Ashland University out of the GLIAC. Honigford had quite a bit of D1 interest especially out of the MAC, but
sometimes kids make the right decision and go where they fit best.

“Paul seems excited about his decision,” Garaway head coach Dave Shutt said. “He really wanted to have a strong education as well and he felt their science department was very impressive and that helped make his decision.”
 
Honigford had quite a bit of D1 interest especially out of the MAC, but sometimes kids make the right decision and go where they fit best.
 
“I think it will be a good fit for him,” Shutt noted. “He should be able to step right in and compete for quality minutes. Some might think he could of went higher, but at the end of the day he felt really good about it. Also, now I can watch him and Tyler Gerber duke it out on the same night.”
 
Tyler Gerber will be a junior at Hillsdale, which is also in the GLIAC.
 
Honigford averaged 16 points per game as a junior earning First Team All-Ohio honors and he helped lead the Pirates to the regional.
