JJ Managing Editor nets major award; Frantz wins “Best Sports Reporting” for 2010

Eric Frantz, the Managing Editor of JJHuddle.com, earned a major award
this week
in the Society of Professional Journalists 2010 “Ohio’s Best
Journalism” competition
. Frantz won the category of “Best Sports
Reporting”
for mediums under 100,000 in circulation. Frantz’s victory
was based on material from Ohio High Magazine.


Eric Frantz, the Managing Editor of JJHuddle.com, earned a major award this week in the Society of Professional Journalists 2010 “Ohio’s Best Journalism” competition. Frantz won the category of “Best Sports Reporting” for mediums under 100,000 in circulation. Frantz’s victory was based on material from Ohio High Magazine.

Earlier this year Frantz won the award for “Best Sports Columnist” in the SPJ Cincinnati Pro Chapter competition. He also finished second in “Overall Sports Coverage.”

Frantz also earned multiple honors in the 2010 Ohio Prep Sports Writer’s Association awards contest in March. Frantz finished first in Division I in column writing and game coverage. He was second in the D-I Writer of the Year rankings.

Rick Noland of the Medina County Gazette finished second to Frantz in the SPJ Sports Reporting category. In the competition for mediums over 100,000 in circulation, Tom Reed of the Columbus Dispatch was first, while Bill Rabinowitz, also of the Dispatch, was second.

Frantz and the other SPJ “Ohio’s Best Journalism” winners will be honored at an awards luncheon in October at Ohio Stadium in Columbus.
