JJHUDDLE’S DIVISION I POWER POLL WEEK 5

1. Colerain (4-0)
The Cardinals ran their Greater Miami Conference record to 42-1 in their last 43 conference games by blasting Fairfield 44-7. Colerain has won or shared the last 10 GMC titles. Senior QB Tyler Williams led the attack with 159 yards and two TDs on 13 carries. This week Lakota West (1-3) awaits. Previous: 1

2. Glenville (4-0)
The Tarblooders traveled all the way to Cincinnati and beat previously unbeaten Anderson 34-7 in a game that was tied 7-7. The loss also snapped the host Redskins 17-game regular season winning streak. Cleveland Collinwood (1-3) is up next for Glenville. Previous: 2

3. Centerville (4-0)
The Elks dealt 10-time state champion Cleveland St. Ignatius  a 31-7 setback. Centerville had 514 total yards in the win, including 484 on the ground. Senior QB Jon Overstreet led the way with 284 yards and two TDs. This week the Elks host Springboro (2-2). Previous: 3

4. Pickerington Central (3-0)
The Tigers took it to rival Lancaster and shut out the Gales 26-0. Pick Central showed its explosiveness by scoring on a 60-yard punt return, a 58-yard pass play and a 24-yard interception return. This week the Tigers face another rival in Pickerington North (2-2). Previous: 4

5. Cincinnati Moeller (4-0)
The Crusaders scored 35 points in the second and third quarters to turn a close game after one (7-3) into a rout. Moeller rushed for 224 yards and sophomore QB Spencer Iacovone threw for 63 yards and three TDs. This week the Crusaders start GCL South play with a trip to No. 9 St. Xavier (3-1). Previous: 5

6. Lakewood St. Edward (4-0)
The Eagles beat Inkster (Mich.) 38-6 and have outscored opponents 75-9 the last two weeks. This Saturday St. Edward heads south to tangle with Cincinnati Elder (2-2). Previous: 6

7. Solon (4-0)
The Comets are averaging 36.5 points per game and have given up over 13 just once. In their latest win, a 38-13 win over Parma, senior RB Kyle Hammonds rushed for 220 yards and a TD. Winless Hudson is on the docket this week. Previous: 7

8. Hilliard Davidson (4-0)
The Wildcats rushed for 350 yards and scored 36 second quarter points in a 70-6 win over Westland. Of Davidson’s 10 TDs, nine came on the ground. Next up for the defending state champs is a trip to Thomas Worthington (1-3). Previous: 8

9. Cincinnati St. Xavier (3-1)
Junior RB Cole Hundley ran for 210 yards and two TDs on 25 carries in a  17-10 win over previously unbeaten Louisville (Ky.) St Xavier. This week GCL South play begins with a visit from No. 5 Moeller (4-0). Previous: 9

10. Cincinnati LaSalle (4-0)
Senior QB Drew Kummer threw for three TDs and ran for two more in a 48-10 pasting of Indianapolis Northwest. Defensively the Lancers held Northwest to minus-20 yards of total offense. This week a trip north to Lima Senior (1-3) awaits. Last week: 10
