JJHuddle’s Division V Power Poll: Several big games at hand for the Top 10

JJHuddle Power Poll Division V

Only one JJHuddle Division IV Power Poll team lost last week but that result could be vastly
different this Friday. Last week Hamilton Baadin fell by a point after losing their star QB the week before. This week however, Ursuline, Anna and Fredericktown find themselves in tough fights.

1. Youngstown Ursuline (2-0)
Following last week’s 50-14 win over Bethleham (Pa.) Catholic, the Irish are now averaging 45 points per game. This week things will get ratcheted up tenfold with D-II No. 1 Mentor Lake Catholic coming to Youngstown. Should be a classic. Previous: 1

2. Anna (2-0)
The Rockets followed up an impressive win over Lehman Catholic with a 55-14 throttling of Sherwood Fairview. Anna had 550 yards of total offense against the Apaches. Guess who is coming to town this week? Coldwater. Previous: 4

3. Oak Hill (2-0)
The Oaks 29-22 win over Wheelersburg wasn’t as close as the score indicates. Oak Hill ran 35 offensive plays in the first half to the Pirates eight and had 369 yards of total offense in the game. The Oaks are at winless Rock Hill this week. Previous: 3

4. Cuyahoga Heights (2-0)
Led by RB Alec Torgerson, who set a school record with his 51st career TD, the Redskins manhandled Fairview Park 32-13. Winless Berkshire awaits this week. Previous: 5

5. Patrick Henry (2-0)
The Patriots continued their winning ways with a 33-0 shutout over Swanton. Defensively Patrick Henry allowed the Bulldogs 35 total yards. Wow.  The Patriots host winless Montpelier in their home opener this week. Previous: 6

6. Lima Central Catholic (1-1)
The T-Birds rebounded from their loss to Delphos St. John’s by slapping a 51-0 shutout on Convoy Crestview. LCC allowed the Knights varsity offense 32 total yards and no first downs through three quarters. Junior QB Tyler O’Connor completed 7-of-8 passes for 163 yards and three TDs. Paulding is up next. 7. Fredericktown (2-0)
Matt Smith ran for three TDs and Austin Hoeflich added two as the Freddies built a 35-0 halftime lead en route to beating host Berne Union 42-8. A tough test comes calling this week in the form of undefeated playoff regular Ashland Crestview. Previous: 8

8. Northwood (2-0)
Last Friday was an emotional night for host Millbury Lake which opened its refurbished stadium after a tornado destroyed the school and facilities this summer. Northwood however was the winner on the field as the Rangers ran away with a 29-2 victory. Zach Bermejo led the victors with 158 yards rushing and four TDs on 18 carries. Undefeated Hopewell-Loudon is up next for Northwood. Previous: 9

9. North Union (2-0)
The Wildcats held Sparta Highland to 153 total yards in a 31-0 shutout win. Warren Shields came up big again with three TDs. North Union hosts Marion Pleasant on Friday. Previous: 10

10. Ready (2-0)
The trip to Pennsylvania was worth it as the Silver Knights crushed Blairsville (Pa.) 51-6. Ready rushed for 404 yards, with 243 of those coming from Demetrious Clark (scored three TDs). This week the Silver Knights face Licking Valley in their home opener (and one of just three homes games this year). Previous: NR

DROPPED OUT: No. 2 Hamilton Badin (lost 26-25 to Cincinnati Taft)

West Jefferson (2-0); Kirtland (2-0)
