JJHuddle’s Division VI Power Poll: Top 4 teams outscore foes 179-40 in Week 1


JJHuddle Power Poll Division VI

The Top 4 teams in teh Division VI Preseason Power Poll had little trouble with their opening opponents. Delphos St. John’s, Ada, Norwalk St. paul and Marion Local outscored their opponents by over 130 combined. As a whole, only one preseason Top 10 team lost, and they didn’t fall out the poll.


1. Delphos St. John’s (1-0)
The Blue Jays had little trouble with D-V power Lima Central Catholic, winning 34-14. Uh oh is right. This week DSJ hits the road for a long road trip to Ashland County to face Jeromesville Hillsdale, a D-V playoff team from last year. The hardest part will be getting there. Previous: 1

2. Ada (1-0)
Led by junior QB Konner Backer (who accounted for seven TDs), the Bulldogs had no trouble with Dola Hardin Northern (won 69-7). This week Ada travels to Spencerville. Previous: 2

3. Norwalk St. Paul (1-0)
The Flyers started their title defense by scoring on their first offensive play of the seaso en route to a 42-6 rout of Sandusky St. Marys. Tiffin Calvert is next up. Previous: 3

4. Marion Local (1-0)
The Flyers had a somewhat surprisingly easy time with D-III Lima Shawnee, winning 34-13. This week’s road game at Springfield Catholic Central will be a stiffer test, but one ML should pass. Previous: 4

5. Covington (1-0)
Whew…That’s what they’re saying in Covington after the Buccs 22-21 come-from-behind win over New Bremen. Bethel comes to town this week. Previous: 5

6. Newark Catholic (1-0)
Led by four TD runs from Britt Wilder, the Green Wave beat Harvest Prep 27-14. Now NC travels to Nelsonville-York. Previous: 6

7. Bucyrus Wynford (1-0)
The Royals increased the state’s longest regular season winning streak to 39 with a 35-14 win over Caledonia River Valley. This week Wynford travels to Sycamore Mohawk, who always seems to play the Royals as tough as anyone. Previous: 7

8. Mogadore (1-0)
Jack McAvinew led Mogadore with 165 yards rushing and two TDs as the Wildcats beat Linsely (WV) 21-7. Smithville comes calling this week. Previous: 9

9. Bridgeport (1-0)
The Bulldogs tallied 294 yards rushing and had three RBs over 90 yards each in a 40-7 win over Steubenville Catholic Central. Toronto visits this week. Previous: 10

10. Lehman Catholic (1-0)
The Cavaliers didn’t expect to get beat that soundly by Anna (29-7). Expect a much improved performance this week at Minster. Kaleb Goins did rush for 175 yards and a TD on 14 carries. Previous: 8
