Where things stand after the spring and summer hoops circuit

Spring and summer have come and gone faster than Usain Bolt or should we
say Tyson Gay, and with that the AAU season has come to a close. Today, we take a look at where some of the Buckeye state’s top talents
are getting offers and interest. Furthermore, we will update you on all
of the commitments.

Spring and summer have come and gone faster than Usain Bolt or should we say Tyson Gay, and with that the AAU season has come to a close.

August, at times, seems like the busiest month to be involved with basketball recruiting thanks to the domino effect. On July 31st, Kenny Kaminski committed to Michigan State followed by four more Ohio Prospects committing in a four-day span.

Today, we take a look at where some of the Buckeye state’s top talents are getting offers and interest. Furthermore, we will update you on all of the commitments.

2011 Recruiting News:

Trey Burke
(6’0/2011) of Columbus Northland has listed Cincinnati, Michigan, Iowa, and Penn State has his favorites. 

Michigan, Miami (FL), and Virginia are starting to make a move as well. 

Burke’s father, who is All-Ohio Red’s head coach, says he is big on Cincinnati, Penn State, and Michigan.

Burke added offers from Miami (FL), Providence, Iowa, Nebraska, UTEP, Oklahoma State, Temple, and St. Joseph’s in the last couple days.

Burke’s father said no date has been set on when they will make a decision.

Nate Anderson
(6’9/2011) of Teays Valley added offers from Toledo, Navy, Air Force, St. Francis (PA), Wright State and Florida International to go along with James Madison, UNC-Wilmington, and Gardner-Webb. He is also receiving high interest from Boston College and Texas Christian. 

George Fant (6’7/2011) of Warren Central (KY) added offers from Arkansas, Boston College, Penn State, Clemson, Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, UTEP, Bowling Green, and Florida International. He is also receiving new interest from Cincinnati and Mississippi.

Jehvon Clarke
(6’1/2011) of Canton Timken says he has offers from Toledo, St.Bonaventure, James Madison, Creighton, Wright State, Akron, and Kent State.

At this point, he doesn’t have a favorite.

Clarke believes his Timken Trojans should be right back in the mix this season.

”Yeah, we should be pretty,” Clarke admitted.

He will join fellow seniors and returnees Rakim Reed, Chase Polk, and Demond Rorie. 

Clarke averaged 15.7 points per game as a junior earning him 3rd Team All-Northeast Inland District honors. He also helped his Ohio Basketball Club U17 team to the King James Shooting Stars Classic title in April and several other high finishes.

Aaron White
(6’8/2011) of Strongsville has offers from Iowa, Boston College, George Mason, Temple, Siena, Akron, Ohio University, Duquesne, Miami (OH), Bowling Green, Toledo, Northeastern, Mount St.Mary’s, Wright State, George Washington, St.Bonaventure, and James Madison.

Aaron Thomas
(6’4/2011) of Cincinnati Aiken has plenty of interest. Thomas is arguably one of the two best prospects in Ohio alongside Jakarr Sampson.

Thomas is getting interest from Clemson, Purdue, Duquesne, Iowa, Cincinnati, Ohio State, Louisville, Nebraska, UTEP, Florida State, Georgia, and Arkansas. 

At this point, Thomas is wide open listing nary a favorite.

Jakarr Sampson
(6’8/2011) of Akron SVSM listed his favorites as St. John’s, Baylor, Kansas, Louisville, and Michigan State. Sampson is currently the top prospect in Ohio.

Markus Crider
(6’6/2011) of Huber Heights Wayne has an offer from Toledo and still getting interest from Depaul. (Grades are an issue).

Tre’ Brown
(6’5/2011) of Warren Harding has offers from Robert Morris and Duquesne along with heavy interest from Cleveland State, George Washington, Oregon State, and Eastern Michigan.

Jalen Billups
(6’6/2011) of Cincinnati Shroder picked up an offer from Bethune-Cookman after a strong showing in Orlando (FL) playing for Club Ohio- Thomas.

Jalen Ragland
(6’5/2011) of Chillicothe has listed offers from UTEP, Wright State, Tulane, Marshall, Ohio University, Kent State, Eastern Kentucky, Chattanooga, Bowling Green, Miami (OH), IUPUI, Morehead State, and Mercer.

Ragland enjoyed a very good summer with the Queen City Prophets, which included defeating All-Ohio Red in the AAU State Championship game.

Cole Krizancic
(5’11/2011) of Mentor has an offer from Navy along with one from Walsh University. He is also getting interest from Toledo, Bucknell, Dartmouth, Cornell, Miami (OH), and the US Military Academy.

TyQuane Goard
(6’7/2011) of George Washington (WV) has offers from Penn State, Delaware, Dayton, Cleveland State, VCU, and Marshall.

Paul Honingford (6’7/2011) of Garaway (OH) has offers from Ohio University and Toledo. 

Anthony Monaco (6’4/2011) of Dover has an offer from Walsh University.

2012 Recruiting News:

Deontae “Teddy” Hawkins
(6’6/2012) of Dayton Dunbar turned quite a few heads over the last 10 days in Orlando, Florida as his All-Ohio Red U16 team finished runner-up in both the Super Showcase and National Tournament. 

Hawkins has offers from Iowa, Dayton, Cincinnati, Ohio University, Ball State, and some interest from Ohio State.

 Though, he doesn’t have an offer yet, Hawkins mentioned Ohio State as his favorite.

 Hawkins played very well in Orlando, but sited on thing he wants to improve. 

”I’m trying to get stronger,” Hawkins stated.

Shaheed Davis
(6’8/2012) of Warren Harding has offers from Cleveland State and Duquesne.

Davis is also hearing from Wake Forest, Xavier, Eastern Michigan, Dayton, USC, Penn State, Bowling Green, Akron, Ohio University, and Ohio State.

Desmond Ridenour
(6’1/2012) of Cleveland Benedictine has offers from Akron and Texas Christian University.

Devon Scott
(6’8/2012) of Columbus Northland currently has offers from Akron, Marshall, James Madison, Cleveland State, and Miami (OH).

He said Iowa, Cincinnati, Kent State, Georgia Southern, Detroit, and St.Francis (PA) are showing interest. 

Scott had a very good summer playing for the West Virginia Wildcats Select 2012. He is really starting to impact game on the offensive end of the floor.

Ke’Chaun Lewis
(6’4/2012) of Columbus Northland has offers from Marshall Akron, and James Madison.

Dylan Kaufman
(6’4/2012) of Berlin Hiland has offers from Akron, Miami (OH), Toledo, Ohio University, and Albany. 

Butler has also shown a lot of interest.

Zac Grossenbacher (6’7/2012) of Parkersburg (WV) has an offer from Marshall along with high interest from Marshall, William and Mary, Vanderbilt, and Clemson.

Jack Flournoy (6’6/2012) of Woodberry Forest (VA) has offers from West Virginia, Marshall, and Ohio University.

James Long (5’11/2012) of Woodberry Forest (VA) has interest from Bucknell and Elon.

(5’11/2013) of Kettering Alter has an offer from Dayton along with interest from Xavier and several other schools including Cincinnati, Notre Dame, and Wright State.

Devin Williams
(6’7/2013) of Cincinnati Withrow is getting strong interest from Cincinnati, Xavier, Dayton, and Miami (OH).

Monty Boykins
(6’4/2013) of Lakota West has interest from Miami (OH), Dayton, Penn State, and Xavier.

Boykins has grown seven inches since last summer.
