This week, the MVP Podcast travels to Sylvania Southview  to interview their head coach, Ed Mouch, concerning his tenure at Southview and the adventures of his talented baseball squad. A disciplined bunch, they look to be a darkhorse in the race for the Division I state championship.

They are currently ranked No. 10 in the final OHSBBCA D-I coaches’ poll and play Start in the district final on Saturday

Toronto High School, on the other hand, finished the season ranked No. 1 in that same poll for D-IV. Accordingly, we’ll chat with Brian Perkins their accomplished head coach.

Toronto fell Thursday, 4-3, to Tuscarawas Central Catholic in a rare and colossal match-up pitting the state’s No. 1 and 2 ranked teams in a district semifinal. This interview was taped in the days before the game.

“We have a lot of players that we like to think of as program players,” Perkins said. “We like to plug them in and out. Our continued strength is a result of that (trend).

“(Toronto) is a small town on the river and we really love our baseball.”

Finally, we’ll have a tribute to the top girls’ track and field performers going into the post season (according to milespilt.com). Who are the best athletes in all of the events, regardless of school size?

Find out in this week’s ridiculously comprehensive MVP Podcast.

Next week we’ll feature the boys’ side of the track and field equation – and FOOTBALL!

So turn it up! You might try your headphones (it was mixed for headphones), but it also shines when played on your laptop’s standard speakers.

Don’t take our word for it. Crank that bad boy up! You’ll see that the award-winning MVP Podcast might just be one of the best sounding sports podcasts on the American market today.
