Over 300 prospects particpate in the NIKE Camp at Ohio State

Nearly 300 high school prospects were on hand Saturday for the Nike Camp at Ohio State.

The camp position MVP awards went to:

Quarterback – Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep’s Gary Nova.

Running Back – Fort Wayne (Ind.) Bishop Wenger’s Remound Wright.

Wide Receivers – Maple Heights’ Shaq Washington and Saginaw, Michigan’s DeAnthony Arnett.

Offensive Lineman – Lakewood St. Edward’s Geoff Mogus.

Defensive Lineman – Akron Hoban junior LaTroy Lewis.

Linebacker – Danville (Ky.) Boyle County’s Lamar Dawson.

Defensive Back – Maple Heights’ Michael Hollins.

SPARQ MVP – Columbia (Mo.) Holman WR Wesley Leftwich (4.4 40-yard time, 40.9 inch vertical leap).

Camp organizers called it “the most athletic group we’ve had in the Midwest in our 10 years of doing this.”

Some of the key Ohio prospects at the camp included:

* Cardale Jones, QB, Cleveland Glenville. There was discussion that Jones could receive an OSU scholarship offer following the camp. We have learned, however, that Jones has not been offered at this time. * Chris Wormley, DL, junior, Toledo Whitmer. Wormley is one of Ohio’s top juniors. He plays alongside OSU 2011 verbal Kenny Hayes at Whitmer. Stay tuned for a story on him.

* Adolphus Washington, DL, junior, Cincinnati Taft. Stay tuned for a video interview with Washington.

* Shaq Washington, WR, Maple Heights. Washington has various offers, but has not been offered by OSU. Stay tuned for a story on Washington.

* Ron Tanner, DB, Cols. Eastmoor Academy. Tanner has been offered. Click this premium link for a video interview with Tanner.

* Cole Stoudt, QB, Dublin Coffman.

* Kaleb Ringer, LB, junior, Clayton Northmont. Ringer is one of the state’s top 2012 prospects.

* Eilar Hardy, DB, Pickerington Central. Hardy has various offers, but has not been offered by OSU. Stay tuned for a story on Hardy.

* Ross Douglas, RB-DB, sophomore, Avon. Douglas tested off the charts at the Pittsburgh Nike Combine and was invited to the camp.

* Tommy Brown, OL, Akron Firestone. Brown was the lone OSU verbal commitment participating at the camp.

* Jamere Mills, TE, Dublin Scioto. Mills was one of the most impressive performers at the camp.

* Pickerington North WR Gabe Nimmons.

* Middletown WR Zach Edwards.

* Cincinnati LaSalle QB Andrew Kummer.

* LaTroy Lewis, DE, junior, Akron Hoban. Lewis was a visitor for OSU’s spring practice and is firmly in the Buckeyes’ sights for 2012.

* Cincinnati St. Xavier LB Steven Daniels.
