6. C.P. Schlatter, Columbus DeSales/Graham, Wrestling, 1999-2003: Record-wise no one in state history has been as successful as Schlatter against in-state foes. The only wrestler ever to be undefeated against Ohio competition, Schlatter ended his four-year run with an overall record of 165-1. A four-time state champion, Schlatter was the nation’s No. 1 ranked wrestler at 145 as a senior en route to being named the Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award winner, which is high school wrestling’s highest national honor. Named the Most Outstanding Wrestler after winning the freestyle and Greco-Roman titles at the Junior Nationals, Schlatter also claimed a pair of Cadet National Freestyle titles. After graduation Schlatter went to Minnesota where he was a two-time Big Ten champion.
