Columbus DeSales defensive lineman Chris Rock is one of the top class of 2011 prospects in the Buckeye State. Not surprisingly, Rock is already getting college interest from some of the top college football programs in the country.

Columbus DeSales defensive lineman Chris Rock had an outstanding sophomore season. Rock made 33 solo tackles and had 31 assists. He registered 15 sacks and batted down 10 passes as the Stallions won 13 straight games before a loss in the state Division II semi-finals.

Rock played defensive end when DeSales was in a four-man front. He played noseguard when the Stallions were in a three-man front, and also played a little defensive tackle.

The 6-foot-5 and 255-pound Rock is a talented athlete in a big body. Rock runs the 40-yard dash in 4.8 seconds and is also a key reserve on a very good DeSales basketball team.

Rock is one of the top class of 2011 prospects in the state of Ohio and recruiters have already begun the chase.

“Questionaires and stuff have come to school,” Rock said. ”Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan State recently, Louisville, Stanford, Northwestern, Indiana and I think some more Big Ten schools have sent stuff.”

Rock was a guest of the Buckeyes at two Ohio State games this past season.  He was in the Horseshoe as the Buckeyes took on Purdue and Michigan.

“I talked to coach (Luke) Fickell a lot and I talk to coach (Greg) Gillum,” Rock said.

Rock was also invited to a Cincinnati game as well as to Notre Dame to meet with the Irish coaches and attend a Notre Dame basketball game.  However he was not able to make it to either event.

“I’m interested in anyone right now,” Rock said.  “It’s kind of exciting to see what is out there.  I don’t have any favorites.”
