For the third consecutive year the Ursuline Irish were playing for a state championship when they met the Coldwater Cavaliers in the DV final.  And for the second year in-a-row, the Youngstown parochial power brought home a state title with a 55-25 victory.  Akise Teague was one of the many stars for the Irish as the junior rushed for 112 yards and scored three touchdowns to help lead the way.

Akise Teague scores on this 26-yard run on their opening drive but it was negated by a holding penalty.

Kurt Schoenherr (#4) – WR/LB – Jr. – on the receiving end of Keith Wenning’s pass good for a 6-yard touchdown on Coldwater’s first possession to give the Cavaliers an early 7-0 lead with 2:29 on the clock in the first period.

And on Ursuline’s second possession of the game, Akise Teague is off once again…

…and he hits pay dirt 26 yards later for his first rushing touchdown of the game to tie the contest up at 7-7 with 11:53 in the second quarter.

…that’s picked up by Dawalyn Harper.

And on the very next play quarterback Paul Kempe looks to go long…

…and hits Chris Collins in stride…

…who then races what’s left of the 59 yards for another score to put Ursuline up 14-7 with 9:19 left in the second quarter.

…and 41 yards later, Chris Collins scores another touchdown to give Ursuline a 21-7 lead with 7:41 left on the clock in the second quarter.

…and the two hooked up for a short 4-yard completion and a touchdown to cut the deficit to 21-13 after the point-after kick failed.

Akise Teague scored his second touchdown of the game on this play…

…walking into the end zone from three yards out to put Ursuline up 27-13 when the point-after kick was no good.

…and outraces a host of Coldwater defenders to the end zone for an 85-yard touchdown to put Ursuline up 34-13 with 9:27 left to play in the third quarter.

Keith Wenning crashes over from two yards out for a touchdown to cut the lead to 34-19 after another failed kick attempt.

…as his 80 yard run, his third rushing TD of the game, pushed the lead out to 41-19 with 8:41 left in the game.

Reese Klenke – WR/LB – Jr. – on the receiving end of Keith Wenning’s pass that covered 13 yards and cut the lead to 41-25 with 6:01 left to play in the fourth quarter.

to widen the lead to 48-25 with 4:35 left in the game.

And finally…Nico Irizarry scores from one yard out on this play to make the final margin, 55-25 with 1:48 left in the game.
