It’s every parent, player and coach’s nightmare – sustaining a life-altering injury while playing sports. Right now Kory Wiita and his family are trying to overcome that obstacle.
It’s been over three weeks since the Medina Highland senior ran onto the field for the opening kickoff of the second half against Lodi Cloverleaf and had to be carted off after sustaining a spinal injury while making a tackle.
And although the high school football season ends next weekend with the state finals, Wiita’s fight will go on for far longer.
Today, according to Wiita’s father Dan and a post on caringbridge.org, Kory started his next step to recovery – rehab.
Here’s is Dan’s exact entry from Sunday night:
“Kory bounced back from the fever.
He has a few good friends hanging out with him keeping his spirits up.
He needs to relax today because tomorrow is the first full day of rehab and the radiology tests so he can eat and drink again.
Keep praying, he is improving.
Kory no doubt has the help he needs at the hospital, but there are also needs his family has in regards to medical bills.
JJHuddle.com will be making a donation to Kory and we encourage everyone else who reads this to do the same.
