It was a must-win for Boardman who held Erick Howard, Ohio’s 2008 Mr. Football, to just 76 rushing and one touchdown on the night in the Spartans 16-7 victory over the Vikings.  Boardman hadn’t beaten their Federal League foe in eight tries going into the game.  Junior Nick Buonavolonta led all rushers with 171 yards and a touchdown and he also had a 52-yard interception return for a touchdown as time expired.

Erick Howard needed 228 yards coming into the game to become Stark County’s all-time leading rusher.
