East Cleveland Shaw WR Tyrone Williams is headed to Ohio State

The Buckeyes added another important piece to their 2010 recruiting
class Saturday with the addition of the top wide receiver prospect in the state
of Ohio, Tyrone Williams.

East Cleveland Shaw wide receiver Tyrone Williams, the No. 7-ranked
prospect in Ohio High magazine’s top 50 football prospects for 2010,
has become Ohio State commitment No. 12 for the Buckeyes’ 2010
recruiting class.

“He committed today,” Shaw Coach Rodney Brown said.  “He talked with Coach (Jim) Tressel and committed.”

Williams was considering scholarship offers from Ohio State,
Cincinnati, West Virginia, Michigan State and Akron, but has had the
Buckeyes on top for some time.

“He was ready to get the process over,” Brown said.  “He didn’t want
to go to any other school.  We sat down with his mom.  She was equally
impressed with Ohio State.  So he decided to commit.”

Williams still needs to take care of everything academically, but Brown is not concerned.

“He is headed in the right direction,” Brown said.  “He needs two
more points on his ACT.  He understands his commitment is conditional
(on qualifying academically).  But he is going to be fine.”

Williams was having a great junior season before he tore the ACL in
his right knee during the fifth game and missed the rest of the
campaign.  In just over four games Williams had eight touchdown

Williams had surgery on Oct. 30 and his rehabilitation has gone very well.

“He is looking great,” Brown said.  “He is dominating.”
