St. Henry Redskins

Two years removed from its last state title, St. Henry might have just what it takes to get No. 7. The Redskins return 13 starters – six of whom (Stahl, Schwieterman,
Fortkamp, Fishbaugh, Post and Wuebker) earned All-Midwest Athletic
Conference honors last season. Overall 15 lettermen are back from a team that lost to Marion Local,
Anna and Delphos St. John’s by seven points or less last season.

* Outlook –
Two years removed from its last state title, St. Henry might have just what it takes to get No. 7.

The Redskins return 13 starters – six of whom (Stahl, Schwieterman, Fortkamp, Fishbaugh, Post and Wuebker) earned All-Midwest Athletic Conference honors last season.

Overall 15 lettermen are back from a team that lost to Marion Local, Anna and Delphos St. John’s by seven points or less last season. Only Coldwater beat the Skins by double-digits.

Offensively, Stahl (1,200 yards passing, 300 yards rushing and 10 TDs in 2008) directs a balanced offense that includes plenty of threats. Schweiterman (350 yards rushing, 350 yards receiving), Post (350 yards receiving, 600 yards apssing) and Fortkamp (500 yards receiving, 10 TDs) can all leave their marks. The OL will have only one starter under 6-0.

Defensively, Coldwater was the only team to score over 21 points on the Redskins a year ago and this season the unit should be tougher. Fishbaugh (90 tackles, 10 TFL), Post (79 tackles), Hoyng (71 tackles, six sacks, five TFL), Schweiterman (41 tackles, two INTs) and Wuebker (60 tackles, nine sacks, six TFL) are all seasoned – and standout – performers.

Head coach Jeff Starkey is 50-20 at St. Henry where he enters his seventh season.

As usual, the Skins open with Marion Pleasant in a great match up of small school powers. St. Henry has won four straight in the series, including a 2006 playoff meeting.
The last two openers have been decided by four points total.
