It can be argued that this wrestling season in Ohio is the toughest, deepest and most talented in history. Some may scoff at that notion, but ammunition doesn’t lie. According to the Amatuer Wrestling News’ individual national rankings, five Ohio wrestles are regarded as the top wrestler in the country at their respective weights. Only one other state has more than one.

According to the Amatuer Wrestling News’ individual national rankings, five Ohio wrestles are regarded as the top wrestler in the country at their respective weights. Only one other state has more than one (Pennsylvania has three).

St. Paris Graham wrestlers Nick Brascetta (sophomore, 103) and David Taylor (senior, 135), Monroeville wrestlers Logan Steiber (junior, 125) and Chris Phillips (sophomore, 171) and Cincinnati Elder wrestler Orlando Scales (senior, 215) are all national No. 1s.

For good measure, a pair of St. Edward wrestlers – Collin Palmer (senior, 140) and Jamie Clark (junior, 119) – are No. 2 at their weights.
