JJHuddle announces its NEW Regional Huddles; Feature starts Monday

Ohio High’s NEW Regional Huddles

JJHuddle is proud to announce we’re intensifying and increasing our
coverage and reach by launching our NEW “JJ Regional
Huddles.” Each day of the week we will release a news package
focusing on a specific region in Ohio. The goal is simple – get
more athletes, teams and programs recognition. The first Regional Huddle will debut Feb. 2.


JJHuddle is proud to announce we’re intensifying and increasing our coverage and reach by launching our NEW “JJ Regional Huddles.” Each day of the week we will release a news package focusing on a specific region in Ohio, including the southwest, northwest, central, northeast and southeast. The goal is simple – get more athletes, teams and programs recognition and introduce them to a statewide audience. Regional loyalties are strong in Ohio. We’re going to show just how strong the sports are in different locales as well. The first Regional Huddle will debut Feb. 2.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Each Regional Huddle will include specific categories. They are as follows:

Tip Off
A look at a memorable event/game/performance that took place the week prior.

Player Of The Week
A player of the week – all sports included – will be announced weekly.

Team Of The Week
A team of the week – all sports included – will be announced weekly.

News, Notes and Nuggets
A recap of the biggest happenings from the previous week, including impressive win streaks, upsets, big wins, top performances, records broken and more.

On Tap
A look at the region’s top upcoming events for the next week.


GAME DAYS
Each day of the week, a different Regional Huddle will debut. The schedule is as follows:

Monday: Southeast Ohio Huddle
Tuesday: Southwest Ohio Huddle
Wednesday: Central Ohio Huddle
Thursday: Northwest Ohio Huddle
Friday: Northeast Ohio Huddle

Northwest Ohio Correspondent: David Gatwood

Except for a few years when he was away at college, Gatwood is a lifelong resident of Northwest Ohio and a faithful follower of the area’s high school sports. Of particular interest to Gatwood, due to his residency in the Toledo area, have been the activities of the Toledo City League and Northern Lakes League. In addition to his work for JJHuddle, Gatwood also owns and operates a website, NWOPrepSports.com, that covers high school sports in Northwest Ohio. He previously spent time practicing law and taught school for a number of years. Gatwood holds an undergraduate and law degree from the University of Toledo.

Morris is the sports editor for the Circleville Herald, and has worked as a writer for JJHuddle/Ohio High since 2007. Morris is a 2008 graduate of The Ohio State University in journalism and political science.

Northeast Ohio Correspondent: Marty Gitlin

Gitlin is a freelance sportswriter based in North Olmsted. He is the author of more than a dozen books, including biographies about New York Mets all-star third baseman David Wright and Baltimore Ravens Pro Bowl safety Ed Reed. Gitlin spent nearly two decades as a sportswriter in the newspaper field, winning more than 45 awards during that time, including first place for general excellence from the Associated Press for his coverage of the 1995 World Series. That organization also voted him as one of the top four feature writers in Ohio in 2001. Gitlin lives with wife Mitzi, daughters Melanie and Emily and son Andrew.

Southeast Ohio Correspondent: Shayne Combs

Combs is the co-owner and head writer for the SVCsportszone.com. He is also a seasoned coach and teacher who is in his ninth year of teaching junior high language arts at Paint Valley Middle School in Ross County. Over the past 10 years Combs has varsity coaching experience (both assistant and head) in basketball, golf, and baseball, and is currently entering his third season as the head baseball coach at Paint Valley. He and his wife Bethanie are avid sports fans.
