Princeton senior wide receiver Jordan Hopgood became the second Vikings’ player to orally commit to Bowling Green when he made a pledge this past weekend.

Hopgood joins Princeton linebacker Dwayne Woods as part of the Falcons’ 2009 recruiting class under new head coach Dave Clawson. Woods made an oral commitment last summer under the previous coaching staff.

Hopgood, who is 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, had given a soft verbal to Eastern Michigan last year, but reconsidered after the Eagles went through a coaching change in late December.

Bowling Green offered earlier this month and Hopgood took a visit and committed on Friday. Hopgood, who also had interest from other MAC schools, had offers from Toledo, Hofstra, Colgate, Eastern Illinois and Tennessee Tech.

“I think BG is a real good fit for him,” Princeton coach Bill Leach said.

Leach said Hopgood and Woods have already considered becoming roommates at the school.

Hopgood, an all-Greater Miami Conference player, had 51 receptions for 805 yards and three touchdowns last season.

The 6-foot-1, 217-pound Woods – also an all-GMC selection – had one-half sack, an interception and two forced fumbles.

The Vikings, who were 5-5 overall and 4-3 in the GMC, might have a third signing on Feb. 4. Senior linebacker Anthony Shoemaker, who is 6-4 and 250 pounds, is expected to visit Toledo this weekend and Syracuse Jan. 31.

Shoemaker, who just completed his first season of football with Princeton, visited Miami last weekend. He has offers from Eastern Illinois, Tennessee Tech and Toledo.

Shoemaker had four sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries last season.
