Despite encountering unstable college coaching situations during his recent recruiting experience, Cincinnati St. Xavier OLB Luke Kuechly finally reached a conclusion this weekend.

Kuechly, one of the state’s top uncommitted seniors up until this point, has made an oral commitment to play football at Boston College.

Kuechly, one of the stateʼs top linebackers, also seriously considered Duke, Virginia and Stanford. Kuechly, who was Division I special mention all-state, had several other offers.

Despite the recent coaching change in the Eaglesʼ program, Kuechly still felt comfortable with the direction of Boston College.

Defensive coordinator Frank Spaziani was promoted to head coach on Tuesday after former head coach Jeff Jagodzinski was fired Jan. 7. Jagodzinski was dismissed after he interviewed for the New York Jets coaching vacancy.

Kuechly, who is rated the stateʼs No. 43-best senior by Ohio High Magazine, is the second St. X player to commit from the 2009 class. Defensive end Pat Muldoon made an oral commitment to Wisconsin in late December.

Both are expected to sign national letters of intent on Feb. 4 at St. X.
