Steubenville and Kettering Alter meet for the second time in three years with a state title on the line.

Sometimes a missed extra-point can haunt a team. In this case Alter has two to choose from. In the 2006 Division III state title game, the Knights dropped a tough 34-33 decision to Steubenville thanks in part to two missed PATs. Next Friday the Knights get a second chance.

Alter and Steubenville hook up again, this time with a Division IV title on the line.
In the previous meeting, Steubenville captured its third title. Alter just wants one.

Last year the Knights lost to Coldwater in the regional semifinals. Last week Alter beat Coldwater.

Can the Knights complete their revenge tour?

This game features two of Ohio’s better quarterbacks in Alter senior Austin Boucher (Toledo) and Steubenville junior Dwight Macon. Both led their teams to impressive semifinal wins Friday.

Alter outlasted a solid Genoa Area squad 42-34 at Findlay’s Donnell Stadium. Steubenville handled New Lexington 30-6 at Massillon’s Paul Brown Tiger Stadium.

The Big Red, which captured the program’s 700th win earlier this season, is 3-2 in five state finals appearances. Alter just has the one.
