The Buckeyes have offered a scholarship to Youngstown Ursuline linebacker Jamel Turner, Cincinnati St. Xavier offensive lineman Matt James, Solon defensive end Darryl Baldwin and West Chester Lakota West linebacker Jordan Hicks, four outstanding juniors from the Buckeye State.

Recently Youngstown Boardman junior J.T. Moore became the fifth class of 2010 Ohioan received a scholarship offer from the Buckieyes.

“They sent a letter today to my house,” Moore said. “It said coach (Jim) Tressel is giving me a full scholarship offer.”

The 6-foot-3 and 230-pound Moore had a very good sophomore season for the Spartans. He started all 12 games in helping his team finish with an 8-4 record.

Moore was surprised when he arrived home and the offer was waiting him.

“I had no idea it was coming,” Moore said. “It was shocking. It was great. They had not verbally offered me. It’s my first offer.”

It probably won’t be too long until Moore tells Tressel he will play for the Buckeyes.

“Ohio State is my favorite,” he said.

When asked if he might commit to Ohio State this weekend, Moore said, “Probably not yet, but I don’t know.”

If and when Moore commits, Tressel won’t be the only one happy.

“I talked with Corey Linsley,” Moore said. “He’s hoping things go right and I commit. He wants me to go to Ohio State.”

Linsley is Boardman’s outstanding senior offensive tackle who committed to Ohio State in late April.

There could eventually be a couple Moore’s playing for Ohio State. Darryce Moore is J.T.’s sister. She is one of the top junior basketball players in the state of Ohio and OSU women’s coach Jim Foster is recruiting her.

J.T. Moore, Linsley and the rest of the Boardman team ran their record to 3-0 with a 48-7 victory over Youngstown Chaney tonight. After the game Moore was celebrating not only the victory, but the offer from the Bucks.

Moore attended the Buckeyes’ victory over Youngstown State last weekend, but said he probably would not be able to attend the Ohio State-Ohio University game this weekend.
