This week is the first annual “Chris Spielman Gridiron Classic” to benefit the Central Ohio Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Stephanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at the Arthur James Hospital.

The first game on Friday night September 5 pits New Albany against St. Francis DeSales at DeSales Stadium.

The second game on Saturday September 6 showcases Cleveland Glenville against Gahanna Lincoln at Gahanna Stadium.

Both games start at 7:30 p.m. Both nights the games are being showcased in the same fashion as a College Bowl game with half-time shows.

This is the first time in several years that Glenville has played in the Central Ohio area. Glenville has two players currently committed to the 2009 Ohio State recruiting class and there are two more that Ohio State is heavily recruiting including OL/DL Marcus Hall, the No. 78 player in ESPN’s top 150.

Glenville beat Cleveland St. Ignatius in Week 1 of the season 20-17 and beat the No. 1 AAA team in Pennsylvania, Thomas Jefferson High, 34-14 on Labor Day.
