Fremont Ross (7-3)
* Players To Watch – QB Cody Foos (6-0, 180, Jr.), WR Terence Davis (6-4, 210, Sr.), OL Nate Halbeisen (6-3, 250, Sr.), LB Brad Woleslagel (6-2, 195, Sr.), DB Justin Hines (6-0, 175, Sr.).
* Outlook — The Little Giants missed the playoffs in 2007, but could contend in 2008 behind Foos and Davis.
“We have been motivated by missing the playoffs last season,” said Fremont Ross coach Derek Kidwell, the 1991 Ohio Mr. Football award winner at Fostoria. “We have a good and big junior class that we will be expecting a lot from. It should be a very good season for us.
“We have a very athletic and talented team. We have worked real hard in the off-season to get stronger and faster.”
Foos threw for 1,801 yards and 15 touchdowns and also had 347 yards and three touchdowns on the ground as a sophomore. Davis had 24 catches for 470 yards and five scores.
Halbeisen is a three-year starter on the line, while Woleslagel is a two-year starter at linebacker. He tallied 98 tackles last season.
Kidwell boasts a 26-15 record in three years as a head coach. Fremont Ross has 593 wins in school history and could reach the 600-win plateau this season.
“Looking at our schedule, we know that Perrysburg, Whitmer, Tiffin Columbian, Benedictine and Findlay will all be very tough games for us,” Kidwell said.
